Owls of Michigan

Jamie Platt is a professional ornithologist who helps people find birds. Most of us know how hard it is to see owls in their natural habitat. What we don’t realize is how many owls are hidden in the fabric of our everyday lives. Although highly represented in our culture, owls more than any other animal, take such great pains to conceal their presence. You will learn the how, where and when to find and identify by sight and sound the ten owl species that can be found in Michigan.

Jamie Platt is an alumni of Northern Michigan University where he graduated with a degree in Zoology. He has taught or lectured at Washtenaw Community College, Monroe County Community College, Schoolcraft College and the Ann Arbor Adult Education program. He is also the founder of Hell's Birders, a birding organization based in Ann Arbor.
