Join instructors Jim Anglewicz and Barry Fitzpatrick , members of Little Traverse Beekeepers Guild, for these four sessions designed to explain everything you need to know before beginning your own beekeeping journey. This is mainly a "how to" class for beekeepers, but anyone interested in honey bees and the value of pollinators are welcome to attend.
First session ~ Monday, February 27 - The joys and challenges of beekeeping and an overview of everything you will need to begin beekeeping in Northern Michigan
Second session ~ Monday, March 6 - Honey bee biology and a demonstration of maintaining your hives throughout the year
Third session ~ Monday, March 13- Managing bees for health and productivity, with an overview of bee health issues and treatments, and Winter management
Fourth session ~ Monday, March 20 - The rewards and methods of harvesting honey, beeswax and pollen, with an overview of your second year beekeeping and queen management
