Turkish Marbling with Heidi Reichenbach Finley
Traditional marbling is a historic craft dating back to the 10th century. It is achieved by floating paint on fluid and then transferring these one-of-a-kind designs to paper or fabric. Participants need no prior experience in art whatsoever. Anyone who can follow instructions can be successful in this class. Learn the techniques, tools, and materials that are best for achieving the bright, clear patterns which make marbling special. Day One introduces the craft; familiarizing the student with the necessary chemistry, specialized tools, paper and paint, and includes basic marbling. Day Two offers advanced patterns and some fun substrates, with students encouraged to further develop skills by re-visiting favorite patterns and experimenting individually. Participants can expect to take home 20+ completed papers and fabric samples.
Though paint shirts and aprons are provided by the instructor, please wear unimportant clothing and shoes. Bring rubber gloves if you wish. Marbling is messy fun! Questions? Students may contact the instructor at firstname.lastname@example.org or (260) 667-8719
