oin Bruce Kopytek as he tells the history of Hudson’s Department Store. Reenter the amazing store that dominated Detroit throughout most of the 20th Century. It was built in 1911, and became the second largest department store in America (Macy’s in New York was bigger). Discover information about the Hudson family, the Hudson automobile, and where the family is today. Learn when and where Hudson stores moved to the suburbs, and when the final day of demolition erased the store forever.


Bruce Kopytek is an architect and graphic designer who writes, lectures, and maintains a blog called, The Department Store Museum. He is currently finishing a book on the iconic department store, Hudson’s.
