Jack Kerouac, is known for his innovative “spontaneous” prose about family, spirituality, jazz, travel, promiscuity, New York City, Buddhism, drugs and poverty, influencing Bob Dylan, the Beatles and The Doors. At the Browne Center, a biographical documentary (9/7) and a filming of On The Road (9/2l); by ZOOM discussions: The Town and the City (9/14) and On the Road and The Dharma Bums (9/28). The Town and the City traverses Karouac’s childhood in Lowell, Massachusetts through his young adult years in NYC. Written at age twenty, this literary gem is filled with lively anecdotes. On the Road and The Dharma Bums provide accounts of Karouac’s travels across the country, trying Buddhism and climbing the high Sierras.
