Canceled-Bordeaux with Brian Lillie

BordeauxThis introductory course is created to demystify the world of wine making it approachable to everyone that wishes to immerse themselves a little further. You will learn how to correctly taste wine, learn about the different styles, names, and regions of the grapes, and taste several different Bordeauxs. When finished you will feel confident in your wine tasting skills and have the ability to approach wine in a whole new light.

Session 1: The Left Bank

• Bordeaux
• Haut-Medoc

Session 2: The Right Bank

• Saint-Emilion
• Bordeaux Blanc

Supplies: Students will need to purchase the wines to be tasted for each class. Bottles from the regions listed in the above sessios are recommended for the instruction. The estimated price for all 4 wines is $80.

We will be using email, google docs, and digital handouts.

Other Course Details and Prerequisites: Computer proficiency for email, must be of legal age to enjoy wine tasting.

Brian Lillie

Brian is the Director of Hospitality and Distribution at Chateau Chantal Winery. Brian is a WSET Level 3 Certified Wine Professional. He is Vice President of the Michigan Wine Collaborative. In 2013 he chaired the MiCast (Michigan Certified Alcohol Service Training) Program which received the 2015 Pure Michigan Governor’s Award for Innovative Tourism Collaboration Award in Education and Training. He has taught various classes on wine appreciation at Northwestern Michigan College and North Central Michigan College. As a speaker, he has led a session called “Tasting Great Wine Before the First Glass”. Brian’s approach demystifies the intimidating world of wine.
