Explore narrative elements, brainstorming, interviewing, determining audience, and plot, developing character and actions, using dialogue, strategies to write sometime to take home with you as either memoir or short story with at the end of the week.
Write with your heart. Share your work with family and friends. Give your work to them as a gift to remember you for a special occasion.
Doesn’t matter if you’re a 3-5 grader or 6-8 grader. Sessions will be tailored for each age group.
Instructor: Ken Winter
Ken Winter, former editor and publisher of the Petoskey News- Review, is a national consultant and teaches writing at North Central Michigan College and Michigan State University after 32 years as a journalist and columnist. He started professional writing for the Lansing State Journal age 14.
He is a certified National Writing Teacher Consultant trained to teach writing to students of all ages. Most importantly he is a parent who understands how to work with younger people. young people learn, read, and write
He holds a BA in Journalism MSU; MEd in Curriculum and Instruction, Ferris State University; MA in Political Science, Central Michigan University; and NEH Fellowship for Journalists, UM.
