Get ready to explore your imagination, make new friends, and maybe even discover your own inner star. So, are you ready to step into the spotlight? Let's create something amazing together!

Instructor: Dean Tahtinen

Hey there, future stars! My name is Dean Tahtinen (Tah-ti-ni, but don’t worry about the pronunciation), and get ready for an adventure in the wonderful world of theatre!

Back in 2002, I discovered the magic of theatre when I played a super important role in a play called "The Best Man." Talk about big shoes to fill! Since then, I've been on countless stages, behind the scenes, and even helped make the lights and sound work their magic. I've been an actor, stage manager, assistant director, and even a light and sound technician for over 15 amazing productions!

But wait, there's more! I also fell in love with the craziness of improv comedy. Imagine making up hilarious stories and characters right on the spot – that's improv! I joined a group called "Second Sunday Improv" and for 7 years, we made audiences laugh their socks off while raising money for good causes. When the group moved on, I took a short break, but the theatre bug wouldn't leave me alone! So, I started my own improv group called the "Petoskey Improv Troop," and guess what? We kept the laughter going for 2 ½ years!

And did I mention I taught improv to awesome elementary school kids in Petoskey, Alanson, and East Jordan? They were the best scene partners ever! I even shared improv tips with grown-ups, showing them how to use this amazing tool to work better together and have more fun. Imagine that!

Sure, I haven't been to theatre school for years, but I've learned SO much on my own. From workshops in Chicago to visiting improv groups around the world, I've soaked up all the theatre knowledge I could find.

Now, the most important part: I LOVE sharing the joy and creativity of theatre with everyone, especially kids like you! ✨
