“Scrap Fish” in Fused Glass

Come to the “Glassroom” at NCMC and make a cute “Scrap Fish”! You’ll design and assemble your own 5-6” decorative fishy using colorful glass scrap. They look great in windows, on walls, or swimming freely suspended from the ceiling. There’s no cutting required. Glass artist Heidi Reichenbach Finley makes this a super-fun, relaxed, and social event with friendly guidance for even the most glass-squeamish beginner. Fused glass is different from blown glass—you won’t be near the heat. Your creation will later be expertly fired smooth in the college kiln room by Heidi.

These make great gifts, and you may decide to make more than one for a smaller additional fee. As with all of Heidi’s classes, participants need no prior experience in glass or art of any kind to be successful. Really!

Completed fishies will be available for pick-up at the college several days later and ready for hanging. Shipping is available.

Additional information for students: There is no supply list for students. Though participants won’t be cutting or breaking glass, eye protection is available in the glassroom,   The instructor will provide safety guidelines and support for proper handling of glass. Please dress for work and wear closed-toe shoes. Questions? Students may contact the instructor anytime at midwestartist@msn.com or (260) 667-8719

No drop ins. At the latest, students must register prior to the day of class and should arrive on time for class, so as to receive adequate instruction.

Intended for adults age 18 and up. Children 12-17 may register and participate under the close supervision of a registered adult participant.
