The April ice storm wreaked havoc in northern Michigan. The response by our community leaders was swift and impressive. Matt Blythe, Emmet County’s emergency management coordinator, was responsible for overseeing the massive response that involved help from across the nation and Canada. Matt has extensive experience in emergency management working for American Red Cross Disaster Services, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division of the Michigan Department of State Police. He will be joined by three key local leaders whose agencies played vital roles in dealing with the devastation. Harbor Springs Police Chief Kyle Knight, Petoskey Public Safety Director Adrian Karr, and Emmet County Building Department Director Marty VanBerlo will each tell stories of the outstanding work their agencies did to serve the people of our county.
