
In this class, participants will learn the variety of pollinators, their roles in the natural world and in the backyard garden, as well as current issues that they are facing. Other topics will surround incorporating native plants into landscaping designs, planting ideas and considerations to benefit pollinators, and other ways you can help pollinators. Participants will become familiar with resources for pollinators at the local, state, and national level. Also to be discussed is how to become a Michigan State University certified "Pollinator Champion”, and teaching others about the pollinating world.
Participants will also get a voucher for a tree or shrub to plant through the Emmet Conservation District Spring Tree Sale to spread the love for pollinators.

Jackie Pilette is the District Manager for the Emmet Conservation District (ECD). The mission of the ECD is to improve the quality of life for residents of Emmet County, by protecting and conserving our natural resources, promoting sound sustainable agricultural practices, and providing educational opportunities for the community. The ECD conducts a variety of natural resources activities and services including annual spring tree sales, promoting land management education/outreach and best management practices for natural resources, forest and river clean-ups, promoting native plants and habitat improvement projects, and invasive species education/outreach, identification, and management. Her hobbies include gardening, hiking, bird watching, kayaking, hunting, and spending time with her family.
