Sponsored by the Little Traverse Bay Beekeepers Guild
Currently, the United States is in the midst of what could be the greatest yearly honey bee die off in over a decade. Large scale bee losess have been with us for the past several years and it seems to get worse every year. We can do a lot to keep our bees healthy and winter ready but losing bee colonies is a reality all beekeepers will experience. In order to sustain our beekeeping hobby it is useful to learn how to make new queen bees and new colonies of bees.
This will be an in-class workshop discussing and demonstrating how to produce your own bee colonies by splitting existing bee colonies, making queens, managing nucleus colonies for sale or as a way to sustain or increase your colony numbers. Any beekeeper with one or more colonies of bees can use these skills to become more sustainable.
Please note: This is an indoor class only. Bee suits are not required.
Cancellations are non-refundable within 48 hours of this event.
