Dive into the world of textiles, in this case synthetics, cotton, and wool. Discover their origins, production from field or lab to woven cloth, decipher care labels, understand their impact on the environment, the use of recycled materials, and much more. Your student will make projects using each fiber allowing your child to get their hands on the real thing, be creative, and share with others. Come create a synthetic fiber windsock, wool felt an ornament, create a cotton pom-pom pen and a construct tied polar fleece blanket to name a few. Come be amazed.
Please have your child bring 2 pieces of polar fleece 1-1/2 yds each, and shears or scissors that can cut fabric that are not too large for them to handle. The shears should be wrapped securely in a towel so as not to hurt anyone. Please also discuss scissor safety with your child. The instructor will also go over this in class.
