This 14-week program prepares students for an exciting and rewarding career as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA).
Students will prepare for the National Healthcareer Association Certified Clinical Medical Assistant certification exam. The program also includes phlebotomy training and an introduction to EKG procedures. Students may choose to take the optional NHA Phlebotomy Technician certification exam.
Certified Clinical Medical Assistants are multi-skilled allied healthcare professionals who perform both clinical and administrative duties. They work alongside physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other healthcare providers. CCMAs commonly work in medical offices, clinics, urgent care centers, and general or specialty practices.
Regional Wage and Labor Benchmarks
Medical assistants are an important part of the regional workforce. Based on the current data, which was gathered from seven Northern Michigan counties, the current Regional Median annual salary for CCMAs is $42,607.
This 14-week program includes:

• Placement into 80 hours of CCMA externship with an optional 40 hour phlebotomy externship

Program Dates: November 9, 2026, through February 21, 2027
Holiday Break: No class December 28, 2026, through January 3, 2027
In Person Skills Testing: February 8, 9, and 10, 2027 (9am to 5pm)
CCMA externship and optional phlebotomy externship will begin after the in person skills requirements are completed. Externship schedules and locations will depend on clinical site availability. Students must complete all required vaccinations, health documentation, background requirements, and drug screening before beginning an externship.
Requirements: You must pass a background check prior to acceptance into the class, and pass a drug screen and provide the health/vaccination documentation listed here prior to being placed into any facility for externships.
