Come to the “Glassroom” at NCMC and make a wooden plant stand. You’ll design and assemble the top surface of the stand using colorful glass pieces. There’s no cutting required. Glass artist Heidi Reichenbach Finley makes this a super-fun, relaxed, and social event with friendly guidance for even the most glass-squeamish beginner. Fused glass is different from blown glass—you won’t be near the heat.
Your creation will later be fired smooth in the college kiln room and then fixed to a wooden bench stand 14 inches high. Use indoors or carefully outdoors.
As with all of Heidi’s classes, participants need no prior experience in glass or art of any kind to be successful. Really!
*There are two varieties available. If you have a preference, please contact Heidi (contact info is below) to reserve your choice—white or unfinished wood.*
Completed stands will be available for pick-up at the college within one week.
Additional information for students: Eye protection is available in the Glassroom, though participants won’t be cutting or breaking glass intentionally. The instructor will provide safety guidelines and support for proper handling of glass. Please dress for work and wear closed-toe shoes.
Questions? Students may contact the instructor anytime at midwestartist@msn.com or (260) 667-8719.
